We are a team based in the UK, comprising hikers, campers, and scramblers who have spent years exploring wild places across Britain and beyond. Now, we bring that experience into curating and selling high-quality, ultralight backpacking gear — gear that we use, trust, and test ourselves.

Our name, 探屲 (Tanwa), is derived from two Chinese characters: “探” meaning to explore, and “屲” — a rare word for a valley hidden between mountains. It reflects our belief in quiet wilderness, thoughtful movement, and shelter in wild places.

We source gear from top-tier Chinese outdoor brands, chosen for their durability, minimal weight, and reliability in UK conditions. We also run guided events and test trips, where you can experience our equipment in the field. At TANWA, we believe good gear should carry you further — when mountains open, there lies the valley.
